This past weekend was Memphis Fashion Week, and IT WAS AWESOME. It was my first time to show and hopefully the beginning of years to come. Such an amazing experience. So amazing that I wanted to share the behind the scenes of the show so anyone could enjoy!
The day started with fittings. Each designer was able to pair up with the models who fit best in their pieces. I got these two hotties.
A few hours before the show, the models went into hair and makeup. Hair was done by Pavo Salon and makeup by Bobbi Brown. Both groups were super legit and accommodating. They let me hover over each model like a mom before prom. It was great. The hair and makeup room had inspiration boards full of pictures submitted by each designer. Of course I still felt it was necessary to micromanage a bunch of professionals. Just being me in my element.
Fashion week(end) had two nights of shows. The first night the sponsors presented real deal lines that are being sold in their stores. The second night was the Emerging Memphis Designers Program show. The EMDP show consisted of the singles collections, mini collections, and then a finale of Tara Skelley's Dilettante Collection. My pieces were shown in the singles collection. Here are some shots from before the big reveal.
And to top it all off, so many amazing, supportive people came out to the show. I meant so much, and I was so excited to share the experience with them.
Not pictured: My old a$$ grandma who said she wasn't coming and then basically stood in the runway during the show!! What a boss. And all of the people that she directly/indirectly created.
